Following ricandidatura John Gusso as President of the Municipality of Lido and Pellestrina, which occurred following the agreements reached at the municipal level of the center-left coalition, other members of the Communist PRC announced their abstention in the municipal elections. Gusso's candidacy, like that of Orsoni for mayor, is not the most representative for the left (and I use a euphemism) and also remember that they municipal Pellestrina in Lido and was the only one where the Communist Refoundation chose to exit the executive, in contrast with the choices on health and the environment.
Abstentions, however, prevent representation in the municipal council of the instances that the PRC has pursued in recent years. The parallel with the local situation, which we are supporting a centrist candidate like Giorgio Orsoni, is obvious. The important thing is that the progressive forces of the left are represented and decisive, able to influence the decisions then. The abstention would not only give a real advantage to right-wing parties, but in fact would, in case of victory of the center, a real representation of the positions of the left. The agreement on the reintroduction of John Gusso took place at the municipal level and not lidense within the overall framework of the six municipalities. The decision to submit the list, however, PRC-Italian Communists and the Lido Pellestrina is due not only that the primary consideration of the need to prevent the conquest of our territory by the right wing and the League, even and especially in five-point agreement reached (and guaranteed) at the municipal level with regard to controversial issues, with particular attention to the speculation that will affect the Lido in the near future. We therefore proposed to be guarantors of those points, consistent with the views expressed by us and supported in the previous five years. For this to happen it is necessary that the Federation of the Left (Prc-PDCI) is represented and in determining Council therefore consider the option abstentionist detrimental and counterproductive since it prevents the representation of our positions.
